For the occasion of our 125th Anniversary, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain organised several special events on Monday 7th November at the Landmark hotel in London, including a Business Forum in collaboration with the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain and the Annual Gala Dinner, presided by Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias.
For those of you who attended, we hope you all had a wonderful evening. We are overwhelmed with the excellent feedback received, but all of this would have not been possible without the participation of our members and colleagues.
For those who could not be present, we are pleased to send you a brief summary of the different activities that took place on this special day.
BUSINESS FORUM
The business forum took place in the afternoon and was designed to bring together high profile executives of British and Spanish companies with presence in Spain and the UK.
The forum was presided by H.R.H. the Prince of Asturias and was attended by representatives of both the British and Spanish governments, such as Mr. Alfredo Bonet, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, and Lord Green, Minister of State for Trade and Investment.
Chairmen and CEOs of several multinational British and Spanish companies, such as Banco Santander, BBVA, Loewe, Ferrovial, Mapfre, Uría & Menéndez, IAG-Iberia, Barclays Bank, Clifford Chance, BT, Normand Broadbent and Service Point, among others, participated in this encounter to discuss current issues related to international trade and the role governments play in fostering bilateral commercial relations and economic growth in both countries.
MEETING WITH THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES AND DRINKS RECEPTION
Later in the evening Their Royal Highnesses met and greeted the Patrons of the Spanish Chamber and members of the Executive Committee.
After this private encounter, Their Royal Highnesses joined the drinks reception and had the opportunity to exchange some words with those present.
GALA DINNER
During the dinner that took place after the drinks reception, and presided by Their Royal Highnesses, our President addressed those present with a welcome speech.
Within the dinner there was an award ceremony to acknowledge the Friends of Spain Brand in the United Kingdom, an initiative of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum.
We are already working on the activities for 2012 and we hope to see you very soon at one of our upcoming events.
